Omar Sharif (10 Apr 1932 Alexandria - 10 Jul 2015 Cairo), born Michel Yusef Dimitri Chalhoub, was an Egyptian actor and international film star celebrated for iconic roles in Lawrence of Arabia, Doctor Zhivago, and Funny Girl. Fluent in five languages, he bridged Middle Eastern and Western cinema over a five-decade career, earning three Golden Globes and a César Award. Also a world-class bridge player, he became a cultural ambassador for Arab actors before his death in 2015. He is part of the golden age of Hollywood and the silver screen series of photographs.
