Burt Lancaster (2 Nov 1913 New York City - 20 Oct 1994 Century City, California) was an American actor and film producer celebrated for blending physical toughness with emotional depth. A former circus acrobat, he became a Hollywood star with The Killers (1946) and earned four Oscar nominations, winning for Elmer Gantry (1960). Known for classics like From Here to Eternity, Birdman of Alcatraz, and Atlantic City, he co-ran the influential Hecht-Hill-Lancaster production company and ranked #19 on AFI’s list of greatest male stars. He is part of the golden age of Hollywood and the silver screen series of photographs.
