Piper Laurie (22 Jan 1932 Detroit - 14 Oct 2023 Los Angeles), born Rosetta Jacobs, was an American actress whose seven-decade career spanned film, television, and stage. A three-time Oscar nominee for The Hustler, Carrie, and Children of a Lesser God, she also won a Primetime Emmy and a Golden Globe, notably for Twin Peaks. Known for her range and intensity, she appeared in works from The Thorn Birds to Hesher, and was acclaimed for her fierce, often unglamorous roles. She is part of the golden age of Hollywood and the silver screen series of photographs.
