Eleanor Jean Parker (26 Jun 1922 Cedarville, Ohio - 9 Dec 2013 Palm Springs, California) was an American actress celebrated for her versatility, earning the nickname “The Woman of a Thousand Faces.” Active from 1941 to 1991, she earned three Academy Award nominations for Caged (1950), Detective Story (1951), and Interrupted Melody (1955), winning the Volpi Cup for the first. Known for roles in The Man with the Golden Arm, Scaramouche, and as Baroness Elsa Schraeder in The Sound of Music, she excelled in both drama and comedy. She is part of the golden age of Hollywood and the silver screen series of photographs.
