Claudette Colbert, born Émilie Claudette Chauchoin (13 Sep 1903 Saint-Mandé - 30 Jul 1996 Speightstown), was an American stage and film actress celebrated for her wit, sophistication, and versatility across comedy, drama, and historical epics. She won the Best Actress Oscar for It Happened One Night (1934) and earned two more nominations for Private Worlds and Since You Went Away. A top box-office draw in the 1930s–40s, she also starred in Cleopatra and The Palm Beach Story, later earning Golden Globe and Kennedy Centre Honours. She is part of the golden age of Hollywood and the silver screen series of photographs.
