V for Vendetta takes place in a near-future Britain under a brutal totalitarian regime, where a masked vigilante known only as V draws an unwitting young woman into his elaborate plan to spark a revolution. The film blends tense political intrigue, striking action sequences, and provocative themes about freedom and resistance. Strong performances, particularly from Hugo Weaving and Natalie Portman, and positive critical reception make it a compelling watch.
