Robert Archibald Shaw (9 Aug 1927 Westhoughton - 28 Aug 1978 Toormakeady) was an English actor, novelist, and playwright acclaimed for intense stage work and memorable film roles, notably Red Grant in From Russia with Love (1963), King Henry VIII in A Man for All Seasons (1966), Doyle Lonnegan in The Sting (1973), and Quint in Jaws (1975). Also a prizewinning writer, he authored novels including The Sun Doctor and The Man in the Glass Booth. He died of a heart attack in 1978 at age 51. He is part of the golden age of Hollywood and the silver screen series of photographs.
