James Francis Cagney Jr. (17 Jul 1899 New York City - 30 Mar 1986 Stanford, New York) was an American actor and dancer famed for his explosive energy, distinctive voice, and versatility in crime dramas, comedies, and musicals. Rising from vaudeville to film stardom with The Public Enemy (1931), he won an Oscar for Yankee Doodle Dandy (1942) and starred in classics like White Heat and Angels with Dirty Faces. A Screen Actors Guild president, he worked in over 70 films and remains a Golden Age icon. He is part of the golden age of Hollywood and the silver screen series of photographs.
