Vivien Leigh (5 Nov 1913 Darjeeling - 8 Jul 1967 Belgravia, London), born Vivian Mary Hartley, was a British actress celebrated for her Oscar-winning roles as Scarlett O’Hara in Gone with the Wind (1939) and Blanche DuBois in A Streetcar Named Desire (1951). Also a Tony winner for Tovarich, she excelled in Shakespeare and classic stage roles, often alongside husband Laurence Olivier. Her career was marked by beauty, critical acclaim, and struggles with bipolar disorder and tuberculosis before her death in 1967 at 53. She is part of the golden age of Hollywood and the silver screen series of photographs.
