A top MGM star of the 1940s, she earned seven Academy Award nominations, with a record five consecutive between 1941–1945, winning for Mrs. Miniver (1942). Known for films like Goodbye, Mr. Chips, Pride and Prejudice, and Madame Curie, she later devoted herself to philanthropy in arts and education until her death in 1996. She is part of the golden age of Hollywood and the silver screen series of photographs.
