Barbara Stanwyck (16 Jul 1907 Brooklyn - 20 Jan 1990 Santa Monica, California), born Ruby Catherine Stevens, was an American actress celebrated for her versatility and strong screen presence over a 60-year career in film, stage, and television. She starred in over 80 films, from classics like Stella Dallas and Double Indemnity to comedies like The Lady Eve, earning four Oscar nominations, three Emmys, and a Golden Globe, plus an Honorary Oscar in 1982. She remains ranked among AFI’s greatest female stars of classic American cinema. She is part of the golden age of Hollywood and the silver screen series of photographs.
