The Shining follows Jack Torrance, who takes his wife and young son to an isolated mountain hotel for the winter, seeking solitude to write, but the building’s dark presence preys on them. Its haunting atmosphere, layered symbolism, and unnerving performances by Jack Nicholson and Shelley Duvall have made it a landmark in horror. Though initially divisive, it is now celebrated as a masterpiece for its tension, visuals, and psychological depth.
