Modern artist Henri Émile Benoît Matisse was a French visual artist, known for both his use of colour and his fluid and original draughtsmanship. ‘This vibrant poster design, originally created by Henri Matisse in the post-World War II era, promotes the city of Nice in the French Riviera as a place of "Work and Joy". Created during the later part of Matisse's career when he resided in the South of France, it evokes the sunlit Mediterranean atmosphere that inspired much of his work.
