Ernestine Jane Geraldine Russell (21 Jun 1921 Bemidji, Minnesota - 28 Feb 2011 Santa Maria, California) was an American actress, singer, and model who became one of Hollywood’s leading sex symbols of the 1940s and 1950s. Discovered by Howard Hughes, she rose to fame in The Outlaw (1943) and starred in hits such as Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (1953) alongside Marilyn Monroe. Beyond film, she enjoyed a music career and later turned to stage work. A committed adoption advocate, she founded the World Adoption International Fund in 1955 and adopted three children. She is part of the golden age of Hollywood and the silver screen series of photographs.
