Carole Lombard (6 Oct 1908 Fort Wayne, Indiana - 16 Jan 1942 Mount Potosi, Nevada), born Jane Alice Peters, was an American actress celebrated for her sparkling wit, glamour, and screwball comedy roles of the 1930s. Transitioning from silent films to talkies, she rose to fame with Twentieth Century (1934), earning an Oscar nod for My Man Godfrey (1936). Married to Clark Gable, she died at 33 in a 1942 plane crash during a war bond tour, leaving a lasting Golden Age legacy. She is part of the golden age of Hollywood and the silver screen series of photographs.
