Modern artist Jackson Pollock was a major figure in the abstract expressionist movement. Pollock was widely noticed for his "drip technique" of pouring or splashing liquid household paint onto a horizontal surface. 'Number 3, 1949: Tiger, 1949' was painted using this drip technique. The work was named 'Tiger' after the organic black and orange lines.
