Edward Hopper was an American realist painter and printmaker and was a minor-key artist, creating subdued drama out of commonplace subjects that invited narrative interpretations. In 1925 he produced ‘House by the Railroad’ which features a grand Victorian home that’s base and grounds are obscured by the tracks of a railroad.
