Rose Joan Blondell (30 Aug 1906 New York City - 25 Dec 1979 Santa Monica, California) was an American actress whose 50-year career spanned vaudeville, Broadway, film, and television. Known as a brassy yet warm-hearted wise cracker, she rose to fame in 1930s Warner Bros. hits like Gold Diggers of 1933 and Footlight Parade, earned an Oscar nod for The Blue Veil (1951), and appeared in Grease (1978). She also received Emmy and Tony nominations before her death from leukemia in 1979. She is part of the golden age of Hollywood and the silver screen series of photographs.
