Hedy Lamarr (9 Nov 1914 Vienna - 19 Jan 2000 Casselberry, Florida) was an Austrian-American actress and inventor celebrated both as a Hollywood icon in films like Algiers, Boom Town, and Samson and Delilah, and as co-inventor of a World War II-era frequency-hopping system with composer George Antheil. Her invention, though unused in wartime, became foundational for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS. Posthumously honored, she remains a symbol of beauty, intellect, and innovation. She is part of the golden age of Hollywood and the silver screen series of photographs.
