Elizabeth Ruth “Betty” Grable (18 Dec 1916 St. Louis - 2 Jul 1973 Santa Monica, California) was an American actress, dancer, singer, model, and iconic WWII pin-up whose 42 films in the 1930s–40s grossed over $100 million. Fox’s top star for a decade, she was famed for Technicolor musicals like Down Argentine Way, Coney Island, and Mother Wore Tights. Her 1943 bathing-suit pin-up became a wartime symbol, and her legs were insured for $1 million. She later appeared on stage, including Hello, Dolly!, before her death in 1973. She is part of the golden age of Hollywood and the silver screen series of photographs.
