‘The Fever Van’ was painted by L.S Lowry in 1935 and depicts a group of people huddled around the back of an ambulance on a street in Salford. Fever van was the colloquial term in the north of England for the ambulance that transported patients with infectious diseases to the local infectious disease hospital.
