Hokusai is best known as the author of the woodblock print series ‘Thirty-six view of Mount Fuji’. The most famous painting from the series is ‘The Great Wave off Kanagawa’ which depicts an enormous wave threatening three boats off the coast in Sagami Bay whilst Mount Fuji rises in the background.
